Signs First

Mike Alexander is a native Tennessean. He grew up outside McMinnville and married his high school sweetheart, Denise. They have lived in Tennessee, Canada, Georgia, Minnesota and Virginia. Their oldest son, Jay, is married to Bethany, and they live in Brentwood. Their younger son Justin is married to Lauren, and they live and work in Denver, CO. They have three granddaughters, Caroline - Amelia, and Camille Alexander. Mike and Denise have lived in Franklin for 30+ years.

Mike served as a Captain in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves. He is a United States Military Academy graduate at West Point and completed his MAOL at Williamson College here in Franklin. During his active-duty time in the military, he served at Ft. Moore (Benning), GA; Ft. Campbell, KY; Kingston, ON, and Augusta, GA. He graduated from the Infantry Officers Basic Course and the Canadian Land Forces Staff Course. Mike is Airborne, Air Assault, Jungle Warfare, and Ranger qualified. He served in various positions, including Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Aide-de-Camp, and Company Commander. His last assignment on active duty was Assistant Professor of Military Science at Augusta College in Augusta, GA.

After leaving active duty, Mike worked in the printing industry for Brown Printing Company, Byrd Press, Quebecor World, and M. Lee Smith Publishers. He purchased Signs First of Franklin in 2007.

Mike was a participant in Dancing with the Nashville Stars in 2017. He was awarded the President’s Award from Franklin Tomorrow in 2017. In 2019, he was named Distinguished Member of the 327th Infantry Regiment for his service in the regiment in the early 1980s and his service to the regiment over the past ten-plus years.

He is the Past President of Franklin Rotary at Breakfast, Past Tennessee Director of the Midsouth Sign Association, Past Chair of the Advisory Board of Williamson County BBB, and Past Chair of the Columbia State Foundation Board. Mike has served as a board member of P38, Inc., Americans Serving Americans, Franklin Tomorrow, and BrightStone. He is an active member of the Williamson County Chamber of Commerce and the Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce.
